This project of the MAWLR recommenced with funding from the African Development Bank under the Namibia Water Sector Support Program in late 2021 when Tulipamwe Consulting Engineers (Pty) Ltd. (TCE) were re-appointed to the project to update the planning and design conducted in 2015/16. LCE, as sub-consultant, is assisting TCE with the execution of this project. Updated assessments of developments in the interim and the water supply needs of the community, together with a revised and updated design concept were included in the Preliminary Design Memorandum submitted at the end of 2022, which described and costed some N$ 193 million of infrastructure interventions. During 2023, target borehole sites for drilling were identified and tagged and existing infrastructure in the area earmarked for refurbishment was assessed, with implementation due to commence soon.
TCE was originally appointed to this project by the MAWLR in mid-2015, with LCE and SLR as sub-consultants. During 2016 hydrogeological assessments were conducted for this area where groundwater is notoriously difficult to obtain reliably, but where there is no alternative for water supply. A Preliminary Design Report was submitted at the end of 2016 and presented in the beginning of 2017 after which the project implementation was deferred due to budget constraints.
