Following the submission of a Technical and Financial Proposal, LCE was appointed as Engineers by the Ministry of Lands and Resettlement (MLR). One of the expected outcomes of the Project is to provide strategically placed infrastructure (including water infrastructure) that can contribute to reduced transaction costs in farming systems with inherently small gross margins. These targeted investments in infrastructure, combined with improvements in the land tenure regime and the building of the required capacity to conduct farming as a business, are expected to stimulate private investment in communal lands and promote sustainable use of land. Following an assessment of the water supply infrastructure and consultations with the communities in the areas to be served, LCE has prepared tender documentation for the upgrading and extensions required. This work has been put to tender for Phase 1 of 4 and award is expected in the near future, following which LCE will carry out construction supervision and contract administration.
