Lund Consulting Engineers CC invites applications for the position of Resident Engineer to serve as the Employer’s Representative on site for a civil and structural works project in the north of Namibia.

The successful candidate will represent the Employer during the construction phase and will be responsible for overseeing the civil and structural works executed by the EPC Contractor, ensuring compliance with the Contract requirements, applicable standards, and quality specifications.

 Key Activities

The duties and responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

• Contract supervision and administration in accordance with the Conditions of Contract
• Acting as the Employer’s on-site representative for the civil and structural works
• Liaison and communication with the Client, EPC Contractor and other project stakeholders
• Monitoring construction progress and reporting to the Client and project management team
• Verification of quality assurance processes, inspection procedures and documentation
• Ensuring compliance with technical specifications, drawings and applicable standards
• Review of contractor submissions, method statements and inspection documentation
• Coordination of site inspections, testing and acceptance procedures

Qualifications, Skills and Attributes:

The ideal candidate should meet the following requirements:

• Be a Namibian Citizen or have a valid work permit
• Have a BSc (Eng) / BTech degree in Civil Engineering from a recognised University or Technicon
• Be registered with, or eligible for registration with, the Engineering Council of Namibia (ECN)
• Have at least 5 years post-graduate experience in the civil engineering environment, preferably in consulting and including contract supervision and administration
• Experience on construction supervision of civil infrastructure projects will be advantageous
• Be responsible and self-motivated
• Be an innovative, honest and accurate individual
• Be able to work independently
• Be a team player
• Have good interpersonal, communication and organisational skills
• Be fully proficient in English and Afrikaans
• Have a valid driver’s licence and own transport
• Be available to commence employment as soon as possible.
